Track & Field Down Under

Over the last few weeks I have had the opportunity to coach/advise a talented international runner and good friend, Jayden Russ. Jayden is working full time but has found the time & energy to pursue his athletic goals at a high level. He is preparing for the 1500 meters at the Australian National Championships in three weeks. As part of his preparation Jayden ran the 1500 at Queensland Championships and had a very solid showing, easily qualifying for the final on Friday and leading within the last 200 meters on Saturday. Here are the results from Saturday’s final: Queensland Sport & Athletics Centre - Site License Queensland Open & AWD Championships (Incorporating Under 23 Championships) State Athletics Facility, QSAC, Nathan - 25/03/2011 to 27/03/2 Event 32 Men 1500 Meter Run Open =============================================================== Name Age Team Finals =============================================================== Finals 1 Daniel Bulmer * 21 Gcv 3:52.87 2 Jayden Russ 26 Qe2 3:53.09 3 Peter Bock 29 Mar 3:54.77 4 Andrew Crew 31 Mar 3:57.50 5 Matthew Hawke * 21 Unq 4:02.05 6 Jordan Thomas 19 Qe2 4:04.62 7 Gavin Keight 29 Qe2 4:05.60 8 Grant Williams* 22 Unq 4:08.27 9 Veherney Babob 19 Png 4:20.16 -- Luke Eastwell 18 Gcv DNF Well done Jayden! Run SMART Project Blog Posts

I guess this blog still pops up on a google search for my name because despite my abondonment a few people have mentioned it to me over the last couple months. For anyone who still follows, I apologize for my absolute absenteeism. Basically my form of blogging has deteriorated to just posting links on my facebook and/or twitter accounts. I have contributed a few times to the blog for the Run SMART Project. In fact, my latest submission went up today. It's a brief reflection on the first step to acheiving something extraordinary athletically. Check it out here. I also submitted one in December about running in the winter time that's probably not quite as relevant on March 15. If you're interested, it's here. Also, reaching further back in the Run SMART archives, I wrote one in October that is a recap of a talk that I've given at a couple high school camps. Here is a link to that piece. If you like any of them or feel that they are particularly relevant to you, please feel free to email me, share the articles on facebook or retweet them on twitter. Right now, the best email address is blake@runsmartproject.com
